We express here who the grand old lady of Cricklewood NW2 is to us. Cricklewood is a place where all cultures, all roads, all railways (not very many tubes) and, ultimately, all consciousness meets. Even if you don't live in Cricklewood, you can now take a little bit of Cricklewood away with you.

Letters to The Editor

Strangely enough, we have received one from unexpected readers in Australia. We don't really understand it but have checked the capitalised words and they appear to be place names. It is posted as a comment to this, for space saving reasons.

With the passing of the winter solstice, our attention has been drawn to the imbalance of the quality of visitors and residents of the Mooloolaba beach scene; where as in the past we have had good representation of people from the Maranoa and Toowoomba arriving for prolonged infusion of personality and cultural defects to brighten the holiday resort, we now are concerned that the percentage of visitors is being overtaken by other cultures and preferences. This is only too evident by a visit to Maroochydore. It is developing an atmosphere reminiscent of Coolangatta in the 1960's - more people; a multicultural and kaleidoscopic mix mostly of a class off "not bad poor bastards." We have been noticing this in the expressions of our fellow patrons at the beachside Coffee Club when they pause for a moment when sipping their moccachinos and give that vacuous non focussed gaze over the rim of their coffee cups. You can sense their concern about where the future lies! Of cause we are not alone - why, in the next town of Buderim (not an aurally pleasing name but. thank goodness they didn't spell it with a 'g' instead of a 'd'!)they are having the same problem in spite of the fortunate event of obtaining some settlers from Gulargambone and even from Yakandandah - we understand in the next few months that they are looking to influence a migration of their friends to swell the population with an influx from Cootamundra and Mungindi !. We ourselves are also looking forward to welcoming a family and their dogs from Urandangi - a lift of outback flavour.
We were concerned on visiting Mudjimba, to see quite a few pale skinned people arriving en masse wearing socks and sandals and sporting Union Jacks - we know there is a big Rugby international game here and are very worried that this might be a grass roots investigation from the old mother country ! Perhaps the Mayor of Cricklewood is leading a delegation to inspect a utopian alternative.
Rumour (the arch enemy of truth ) has it that he is so impressed with the few Australians he has in Cricklewoodthat he wants to inspect first hand " the origin of the species."
Sincerely yours
Mooloolaba Murph

I know Mooloolaba Murph and he is one who should not be trusted. He is a representative of the English equivalent to the "Silly Party", he tells rude jokes and eats too much ice cream!! He also abhors fat people!!

My advice to you is to beware of this "Morph" and tread carefully!
